Hal was with AB Dick and the Xerox Corporation for a number of years before Automated Office Systems in 1980, in 1982 Rolf Jensen became an equity partner and the two of them built the largest copy machine company in Oregon and sold Automated to AOP (ALCO) in 1987. As CEO, Hal continued operating Automated until he retired in 1998. Rolf passed away while on an AOP incentive trip to Hawaii.

Hal's wife, Sue still lives in Mt.Angel and also own's a log cabin in beautiful Sisters, Oregon.  They traveled as much as possible and enjoy their family, especially their grandchildren and great grandchildren!
