Ray B. Mundt, 87, died peacefully at his Bryn Mawr home, April 29, 2016. Born on August 10, 1928, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Benjamin Mundt and Jessie Viola, he served in the US Navy and attended Carthage College. Ray then graduated from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (formerly WSC), and later Harvard Business School. He married Ruth Stanchik and in 1953 went to work for Kimberly-Clark as a paper salesman where he later became a Vice President and General Manager. In 1970, he was recruited by ALCO Standard Corporation, paper distribution group to eventually become COO, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board by 1986. During this time, ALCO acquired over 140 companies and grew to a $8 billion company. He retired in 1994, but returned to take Unisource Worldwide public in 1996. A board member of many corporations including Temple University, Clark Equipment, CoreStates Bank (now Wells Fargo), Liberty Mutual Financial and Liberty Mutual Insurance and ALCO and other civic organizations, he was a Global Jewish Advocacy Honoree, a Paper Industry International Hall of Fame Inductee and a Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient from University of Wisconsin. Once he retired again, he spent his time between his Florida home where he could be found on his boat sportfishing and his Pennsylvania and Wisconsin homes. Ray traveled to many fishing locations and was very proud of his three Grand Slams. He is survived by two sons, William C. Mundt (Diane) of Loxahatchee, Florida and Robert J. Mundt (Jennifer) of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Ray was predeceased by his wife, Ruth, a son, R. Scott Mundt, daughter, Mary Klumpp and a granddaughter, Cortney Klumpp. Services were held on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 11:00 am at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, Rev. George S. Harmansky officiated. Entombment in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at Limerick Garden of Memories. Ray B. Mundt served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Unisource Worldwide, Inc., a paper supply and systems company, from 1996 to 1999. Prior thereto, Mr. Mundt served as Chairman and (prior to September, 1993) Chief Executive Officer of Alco Standard Corporation, a distributor of paper packaging products and office equipment. He served as the Chairman from 1986 to 1995, Chief Executive Officer from 1980 to 1993, the President from 1974 to 1988 and a Director of Unisource Worldwide from 1971 to 1996. Mr. Mundt served as a Director of Liberty Financial Companies Inc. since 1991 and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company ("Liberty Mutual"), a holding of Liberty Financial Companies Inc. and Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Company ("Liberty Fire"), an affiliate of Liberty Mutual, Alco Standard Corporation and Nocopi Technologies, Inc. Mr. Mundt retired on December 31, 1994. He retired as an Alco officer and employee, but continued as Chairman of the Board through 1995.  He was credited with the transformation of Alco from a manufacturing-based conglomerate to a distribution company. He came to Alco from Kimberly-Clark Corporation in 1970 to serve as President of Unisource, Alco's then-fledgling paper distribution group.  He was named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Alco in 1973, President in 1974, and Chief Executive Officer in 1980. "The opportunity to be associated with this outstanding company has been the unquestioned highlight of my professional career," commented Mundt. "I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to my Partners and all Alco employees for their hard work and dedication over the years". A native of Appleton, Wis., Mundt was educated at WisconsinState University, Syracuse University and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.  He served in the US Navy from 1945 - 1949.  In addition  to  Alco Standard

Mundt served on the Boards of Clark Equipment Company, CoreStates Bank, N.A., Nocopi International, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and the Liberty Mutual Advisory Board.
